Board Decision: Implementation of Vaccination Policy
Sep. 24, 2021
REVISION made September 27, 2021. Please refer to the article on September 27 for most up to date information.
The board of directors met last night to determine how we will proceed for the Indoor 2021-2022 season.
Our objective for the league is to promote, foster and develop the game of soccer. We also adhere to our Code of Conduct in offering a safe environment, show concern and caution to those that may be sick or injured, respect the human rights, dignity and worth of others.
As such, we are establishing a Vaccination Policy for the league’s participants:
Everyone is required to wear a mask unless proof of vaccination is provided.
(Details to come at a later date. Masks are required for everyone during the free practices because the policy will not yet be implemented.)
Our policy continues to allow you, the player, to make the best decision for yourself.
Our position goes unchanged from our announcement on September 3 apart from masks being required IF proof of vaccination cannot be provided as per the Government of Saskatchewan’s current mandate.
We strongly encourage all our players to be vaccinated as a show of care and concern for their teammates, opponents, referees, and building staff.
We expect all players to self-assess prior to every game, and not be present at games or in the buildings with any active symptoms.
Masks are required in our buildings. Masks are required on the field of play unless you have provided proof of vaccination. Masks are required on the bench regardless of proof being supplied. Also, even if proof is verified, you are still welcome to play with a mask on.
We encourage the use of hand sanitizer at our entrances, exits, and on our fields.
While following our objectives and code, we also want to emphasize that your opinion matters.
This decision was member driven. We heard all sides of this topic and discussed it as staff and with board of directors for many hours over multiple meetings.
We hope you understand the decision to continue offering the game to everyone. The choice of providing the proof lies with the players themselves. At minimum, the option to play with a mask is always available.
Thank you, the players, for your dedication to us and the outpouring of support we received this week.
Thank you to the board for the countless voluntary hours and for making these difficult decisions for the betterment of the entire league.
We, the staff, realize we wouldn’t be here without the players and our volunteer board.
Have a safe season and have fun! Welcome back to indoor soccer!
